Japan apology

Japan should apologise for the past to promote peace: Australia has deliberately(慎重的, 谨慎的, 故意蓄意的 with malice aforethought预谋不轨 with the deliberate intention of committing a crime or harming sb蓄意犯罪, 蓄意伤人 Suddenly Guy, more by way of a nervous twitch than with malice aforethought, pulled the trigger盖伊突然扣动了扳机, 但他并非有意开枪, 只是因为太紧张, 抽搐了一下) chosen not to seek an apology from Japan for the sinking of the brightly lit and clearly marked hospital ship, in which 268 non-combatants died. That choice is doing Japan a disservice(disservice n. 伤害危害 you have done a disservice to the African people by ignoring this fact你忽略这个事实, 因而损害了非洲人民的利益 The spreading of such ideas is of great disservice to the state散布这种思想, 对国家极为不利). Unlike Germany, Japan still reacts with reluctance and sluggishness(行动迟缓, 萧条呆滞) when it comes to apologising for its wartime atrocities暴行, while generalised apologies are reluctantly given. At Etajima I discovered a naval academy revelling in the past. Onishi was the relentless killer of many hundreds of Japanese boys, often taken from high schools and sent on one-way missions走上不归路. A museum centrepiece is a large bust半身塑像 of the commander-in-chief, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, who initiated the raid on Pearl Harbour. Across Japan today, especially at the Yasukuni shrine and museum in Tokyo, there are blatant(无耻露骨的, 公然的, 恬不知耻的. blatant lies弥天大谎) examples of Japan honouring its war criminals and fascists along with the traditional memorials to Japan's war dead. "This deed will shock the conscience of the whole civilised world and demonstrate to all who may have had any lingering doubts the unscrupulous(肆无忌惮, 不择手段的unscrupulous and vicious穷凶极恶的) and barbarous methods by which the Japanese conduct warfare." Australia does Japan no favour either by saying it does not want an apology. The stance only encourages those in Japan who seek to bury their war history, and it discourages courageous Japanese who think historical truth just may help prevent future wars.  It is bewildering(令人费解的, 让人困惑的) that Japan is still refusing to acknowledge the sins of the past.

Listing Personal Interests on a Resume, should or should not: The experiences that I had as a student-athlete(学生运动员 athlete-student: Commonly known as student-athlete. However, they are more an athlete first and student second. The athlete-student spends more time dedicated to their sport than to their academics学业, 学习, since they are obligated to hours of practice, injury treatment, travel, games/matches, coach's meeting, etc. Football is taking up my life that I don't have time to study. We're supposed to be student-athletes, but our ridiculous coaches make sure that we're athlete-students.) really helped shape my character and had a positive effect on my life as a professional. To this day, I can think of many times in my business career, where I referenced past experiences on a baseball diamond to help me solve problems in the work place. To this day, I remain a fan of college baseball, and more specifically my alma mater East Carolina University. This upcoming weekend is special to me. East Carolina University is playing their arch rival(A principal rival主要对手=archrival. An arcade game[街机游戏] is a coin-operated entertainment machine, typically installed in businesses such as restaurants, pubs, video arcades, and Family Entertainment Centers. Arch Rivals is a basketball arcade game created by Midway in 1989. A full game consists of four quarters, with four minutes each. Each team has two players, and the objective of the game is to outscore the opponent until the final buzzer sounds. If the game results in a tie after four quarters, a sudden death overtime period is added, in which case the next basket to go in will win the game for the team who scored it. The overtime period is one minute long. A player can call for his teammate to pass him the ball or to shoot it in this battle royale.), University of North Carolina in the NCAA Super Regional Baseball tournament. The winner will advance to the College World Series. I will be glued to粘到,胶着 the TV set, and if ECU emerges victorious I will be off to Omaha, Nebraska next weekend for the College World Series. ECU is a big underdog((斗争,竞赛)无获胜希望一方), but stranger things have happened in the history of sports. It led me to think, which of my personal interests would I list on my resume and what value would they have to me in the job search process. I began to ask myself the following questions. Would it make sense有没有用,有没有意义 for me to state that I am a big fan of college baseball? What would be the best way to express my experiences as a student-athlete? Could any of this help me get noticed by an employer? Maybe it would be better for me to leave this off entirely? As I read many resumes, I often see people list their personal interests somewhere down at the bottom. I am amazed by some of the things that I learn about people from this information. Some of it is fascinating. I have also seen the mundane平庸的. People have listed that they enjoy leisure travel (who does not like a vacation), reading (should that go without saying), and fine dining (watch out corporate Amex). Remember, that anything that you put down on paper will be dissected(切开解剖加以研究) and scrutinized by many different reviewers. It is just as easy to inspire a negative reaction as it is to evoke a positive responseRegarding my example, it is quite possible that the interviewer could have a negative opinion of "jocks," may not like baseball, or be a fan of a rival school. These items could negatively impact their opinion of me. On the other hand, the interviewer could have a strong respect for athletics and the commitment necessary to achieve and compete at a high level. They may also draw the correlation that  involvement in team sports would translate well to转移到 their corporate environment.  At the simplest level, they may be a baseball fan or even better an ex-ballplayer themselves. All of the above could lead to an inspired discussion, that could transcend the actual interview itself. Unfortunately, you may never know the reaction until you have a chance to observe it in person, it is a calculated risk(计划风险,预计风险). I believe that you can use these guidelines to help you make a good decision:1-Anything that you list should not be too polarizing极端的. Whatever you list, should not ilicit an emotional response from the reviewer. In my example, baseball is relatively harmless, it is still considered the National Pastime. Listing my political beliefs would alienate approximately 50% of the population. 2- List items that enforce the qualities necessary for success. Anything that you list, should be able to help you demonstrate a skill or skills that can translate well in the position. For example, if one of your hobbies were chess, and you had a high ranking, I would list it. I believe that would convey传达 traits that include dedication, strategic thinking, concentration and intelligence. 3-Make sure your items do not carry a negative connotation. For example, one could argue that a skilled poker player would have the same characteristics of a chess player. However, when people think of poker, they immediately think of gambling. It is possible that this could be an activity that would turn someone off. 4- List a skill or interest that is easy for others to relate to. A good example of this would be the ability to play a musical instrument. Everyone can relate to music. There is a natural correlation关联 between musical proficiency and an aptitude for technology. Just make sure that if they ask you to play something at the holiday party, you are able to do so! 6-Avoid average interests. An interest should make you appear to be more interesting and different. It should help set you apart from the others. Listing that you enjoy concerts, movies and sporting events -is great for a dating site – but lousy(极坏极不适应的) for the purpose of getting a job. 8-Make sure that your interest is not too time consuming. Your employer should not be able to even remotely infer that your interest will interfere with your work responsibilities. In closing, listing a personal interest can break down barriers during an interview process and create a more relaxed environment for discussion. It can help create a common bond between interviewer and interviewee in an accelerated time period.  In the extreme, it could also be the ”tie-breaker” in comparing two similar candidates for a position. Use your best judgement when deciding on what interests to list, and how to list them. When in doubt, choosing not to list anything is also a suitable option. For the record(郑重声明 something that you say when you are about to tell someone something important that you want them to remember Just for the record, I've never been to his house and I've only met him a few times, whatever the media is saying.), I chose not to list my interest in college baseball, but have chose to disclose my experience as a Student-Athlete.  I have placed this under my education activities on my LinkedIN  profile, as follows: Varsity Baseball, Scholarship Athlete, Academic All-America.

1.) picture perfect完美如画: as perfect as a picture Such was the picture perfect landscape that it caught the admiring eye of many a passer-by. It remains to be seen. Each participant moves in unison一致的,和谐的 from station to station as necessary, so as not to get in another co-worker's way挡住别人的路. Dance movements range from simple backwards and fowards steps, to more creative moves such as the "Matrix Backbend" to retrieve a coffee stirrer and the "Pull, Smell, Squint and Toss" manuevre when dealing with refrigerator leftovers. Co-workers stuck in a Boss Sandwich(被老板夹击 An unfortunate cubicle configuration in which you find yourself sandwiched in between two of your bosses.) are generally the leaders of this activity. And frankly, even if you've got one of the more amenable(听话的, 顺从的) kids on the block(on the block for sale The radio station has been on the block for a year, but no one seems to want to buy it. But the chef also has a restless spirit(不安分的灵魂); he shies away from calling himself a molecular gastronomist美食家, even though he employs foams and gelatins and even transforms olive oil into a mousse. Instead, Fargione likes to say that he takes a "modern approach" to traditional Italian cuisine, employing new techniques while respecting old flavors. 7. flair 天份,天赋, 才能 have a considerable(great) real/natural flair for set/write/carve/etch in stone板上钉钉的, 定死了的 firmly established and very difficult to change. set in concrete The schedule isn't set in stone, but we'd like to stick to it pretty closely.
